Welcome to the Team!!!!

Hello Lacrosse Families!

My name is Jeff and I'll be heading the Lightning team this year along with Coach David Sena and Coach Nuno Ramos.  We are excited to get this season started.

The Lightning coaching staff has years of lacrosse experience.  Lacrosse is an excellent game to start young.  It's exciting, fast paced and fun!  At a young age it can be frustrating at times since there are so many fundamentals to learn.  Don't worry, the Lightning coaching staff has the patience and knowledge to teach our players these fundamentals and learn to play the right and safe way to develop these athletes for the next several years to come.

Please refer to Coach Weaver's email for the next upcoming events, such as equipment pick up this Wednesday on March 22, from 5pm-7pm at the middle school.  The season kickoffs off Sunday on May 26, from 10:20am-11:30am on the turf at the High School.

If you haven’t purchased a stick, please do so ASAP.  Dick's sporting goods has plenty of youth sticks in stock.  Please don't go crazy on this purchase.  They can get expensive and at this level, these kids do not need all the bells and whistles.

Please purchase a mouth guard and mold it before the first practice.  Lacrosse is a full contact sport and accidents are bound to happen.  Without a mouth guard, your child will not be able to participate in most of the practice drills and games.  Also, please do NOT cut the lanyard from the mouth guard and keep it connected to the face mask.  This will keep our little guys from losing them.

Practices will be held at Fuller field from 5:00pm-6:30pm.  We will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays.  If the fields are ready, practices will start on April 3rd. I have 8 games on the books and I am working on scheduling two more.  Games are on Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.  There is also a Lacrosse tournament In Colchester, Connecticut on May 13th.  Once the game schedule is finalized, I will post it to the Wethersfield Youth Lacrosse web site.  I have already posted all the practices.

Please try to make practices when you can, but do not stress if you have scheduling conflicts.

Lastly, we are here to have fun and learn as a team.  Any aggressive behavior, bullying or taunting by players or parents will not be tolerated.  Like I said earlier, accidents can and will happen due the nature of the game, so reckless behavior will be addressed.

I will be communicating to the parents through the Wethersfield Youth Lacrosse website.  If you have any issues navigating your way through the website, feel free to call me and I will help you out.

It's going to be a fun and entertaining season.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call or text me at any time.

Thank you!
